General Information on Grew Grouping Module
This module is a building block for various other modules, while in its own pure form, offers no new functionality. It has to be installed before any of the other Grouping modules can be installed, as it serves as the only link between:
| 1. |
Duty Rosters of the various Crew Types, eg First Officer's rosters checked against Captain's rosters, checked against Cabin Attendant's rosters etc. The module that manages this Crew Type (Group) utilisation checked against all other crew type (groups), is called Crew Group Exclusions. |
| 2. |
Training Profiles and Crew Groups. The module that manages this Training Profile association with Crew Groups, is called Crew Group Training. |
| 3. |
HR Profiles and Crew Groups. The module that manages this HR Profile association with Crew Groups, is called Crew Group HR.. |
| 4. |
Route Profiles and Crew Groups. The module that manages this Route Profile association with Crew Groups, is called Crew Group Route. |
| 5. |
Airport Profiles and Crew Groups. The module that manages this Airport Profile association with Crew Groups, is called Crew Group Airport. |
Functionality
Unless deployed with one or more of the Grouping Modules, the Crew Grouping Module has no value in itself. The prime functionality of this module is to enable ease of management of various other operational constraints, eg Crew Inter-operability constraints, Training constraints, HR Constraints/Allowances etc.
PerformOps does not manage crew training, HR, Airport etc. on a "crew-by-crew" level, or "per Individual Crew Member" process. All operational constraint monitoring is done through groups, enabled with the Crew Grouping Module.
Application
The Crew Grouping Module is relevant when any of its dependant modules are being accessed. It can be in various phases of the utilisation of PerformOps, varying from Leave Planning, Training Planning, Crew Pool Size Calculation, Crew Duty Roster Generation, Crew Duty Swapping and even to Bidding/Request assignments. For more detail, see the relevant modules.
Crew Group Exclusions
Required Modules
Crew Grouping module |
as a building block, as it can not function on it's own, without Crew Grouping. |
|
Application
To prevent some crew from operating with other, based on group specifics.
Functionality
The prime functionality of this module is to offer the user the ability to exclude one group of crew from operating with another group of crew. Typical applications of this module will be to prevent junior Captains to be rostered to fly with junior First officers, as this may pose a safety risk. Cultural- or languagedetails may be another reason to prevent two groups of crew to operate together.
This Group Exclusion is executed across all crew types, meaning that regardless of the function (position) that the crew holds on board, Crew Group Exclusions are applied. This can become quite restrictive, as the Captain on a certain flight may belong to one group, and his first officer to another flight. For the software to then find cabin crew for this flight, the groups of both the crew will be considered. Imagine the difficulty to roster cabin crew if a Purser is rostered that belongs to yet another group. The operator will have to be methodical to ensure that groups are managed carefully.
Any crew member can belong to one or more groups, and groups are mutually exclusive. A crew member can also not belong to ANY group at all, in which case (s)he will be unrestricted and able to operate with any other crew.
Crew Group Human Resources Profiles
Required Modules
Crew Grouping module |
Crew Grouping. |
HR Profiles module |
as a building block, as it can not function on it's own, without HR Profiles. |
|
Application
To ensure that all the HR privileges of a specific group of crew is consistently granted.
Functionality
The prime functionality of this module is to offer the user the ability to grant a set of HR (privileges) to a certain group of crew. Typical applications of this module will be to assign one or more HR profiles to a particular group of crew. HR profiles include ALL the human relation privileges that are relevant to a specific crew group.
This Crew Group HR is executed across all crew types, meaning that regardless of the function (position) that the crew holds on board, Crew Group HR is applied.
Any individual crew member can belong to only one Crew Group for HR. A crew member can also not belong to ANY HR group, in which case (s)he will be granted no HR privileges.
Crew Group Training Profiles
Required Modules
| Crew Grouping module |
as a building block, as it can not function on it's own, without Crew Grouping. |
| Training Profiles module |
as a building block, as it can not function on it's own, without Training Profiles. |
|
Application
To ensure that all the training requirements of a specific group of crew is consistently applied and managed.
Functionality
The prime functionality of this module is to offer the user the ability to apply a set of training profiles (requirements) to a certain group of crew. Typical applications of this module will be to assign one or more training profiles to a particular group of crew. Training profiles include ALL the training requirements that are relevant to a specific crew group.
This Crew Group Training is executed across all crew types, meaning that regardless of the function (position) that the crew holds on board, Crew Group Training is applied. Any individual crew member can belong to only one Crew Group for Training. A crew member can also not belong to ANY training group, in which case (s)he will be assigned no training.
Crew Group Route/ Airport Profiles
Required Modules
| Crew Grouping module |
as a building block, as it can not function on it's own, without Crew Grouping. |
| Route Profiles module |
as a building block, as it can not function on it's own, without Route Profiles. |
|
Application
To ensure that specific crew are restricted from operating on specific routes, in the event of such restrictions be present.
Functionality
The prime functionality of this module is to accurately control which crew are allowed to operate on which routes. Typical applications of this module will be to assign one or more Route profiles to a particular group of crew. Route profiles list ALL the routes on which certain crew are NOT allowed to operate.
This Route Exclusion Module is executed across all crew types, meaning that regardless of the function (position) that the crew holds on board, Route Exclusion is applied.
Any individual crew member can belong to maximum one Route Exclusion group. A crew member may also not belong to ANY Route Exclusion group, in which case (s)he will be allowed to operate to all airports.
